Eileen Hutson has been drawing and painting for a long time. In the past 25 years she has increased her immersion in visual art as she transitioned from ‘stay at home Mom’ to ‘stay at home Artist’. She gradually left behind anything that didn’t fit the visual criteria, specifically, teaching Ballet and coaching gymnastics, though not before they left an indelible influence on how she approaches and delivers art workshops.
Eileen paints in all media, with a focus on landscape, still life and surrealism. The rewards and challenges of painting large pieces has always appealed to her. She has an extensive background in producing sets and murals. She delights in immersing the viewer in a unique environment, whether it’s in a bathroom, commercial space, bedroom or the theater.
The northwest coastal town of Kitimat was home for 33 years, where she was active as an artist, instructor, volunteer and arts advocate there and throughout the region. As of July 2013 Eileen has relocated to Fraser Lake BC.
