From Bella Coola, Latham has been active in his community. He helped carve two totem poles in his hometown that were raised in 2002 and 2008. He has also taught youth about Nuxalk dance and culture in summer programs. In 2008, Latham enrolled in the Freda Diesing School of Northwest Coast Art in Terrace. He learned design and carving techniques under acclaimed artists Stan Bevan, Ken McNeil, and Dempsey Bob. He graduated with Honours in 2010.
